Music - Mercy High School

Personal Focus. Global Perspective. Mercy Changes Everything.

Music

The objectives of the music program include fostering teamwork, leadership, performance presence, and collaboration among students in music ensembles and in music courses. The emphasis in the music program is placed on the performance as a final product. The Mercy Madrigals, open to all students by audition, allows interested students to develop vocal technique and good musicianship in a quality vocal ensemble.  Members of the Madrigals are called upon to assist in liturgies as cantors, participate in special events and off–campus appearances. The Mercy Ensemble Players is a select instrumental group that specializes in chamber music and music for small orchestra. Christmas and spring concerts in The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Auditorium feature both the Madrigals and the Ensemble Players.

All music offerings, except for the Music Theory courses, are open to 9th graders. The Introductory and Advanced Music Theory courses are elective semester courses for juniors and seniors.
