Student Leaders

Each year level at Mercy has a team of Class Officers and/or Steering Committee members elected by the students to represent them and plan class-wide activities. The degree to which students are expected to assume leadership increases as they move through each year level. The following characterizes the composition and objectives for Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior Class Officers and Steering Committee members:

Freshman Year (Eleven Steering Committee members)

• Work closely with Class Coordinators and faculty team members to learn the functions of a steering committee
• Work to unite their class in school events

Sophomore Year (Four Class Officers / Seven Steering Committee Members)

• Learn the process of planning and carrying out activities
• Learn a sense of team cooperation and group interaction
• Explore a greater sense of responsibility
