Safe Environments

Providing a Safe Environment for Our Students

Mercy High School is committed to providing a safe environment for all our students, including protection from child sexual abuse. The school regularly provides safe environments training for child and youth protection to faculty, staff and students. Occasionally, there are factors in a student’s appearance or behavior that lead to suspicions of child abuse or neglect. Maryland law requires that all educators and other school personnel, including volunteers, report suspected abuse or neglect to the proper authorities in order that children may be protected from harm.

Mercy High School policy and Maryland law require that all school staff report suspected abuse and neglect.  If you suspect that an incident of child abuse, including child sexual abuse, has occurred, please report it immediately to the president or principal.

We urge anyone who has knowledge of any child abuse to immediately contact local authorities. The Baltimore City Police Department Child Abuse Unit can be reached at 443-984-7378. You can also contact the National Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453).
