They are a Christian-based transition home providing 24-hour care for infants/small children in need until they can be returned to their biological family or are adopted into a new family. We landed in Cap-Haitien, Haiti on the afternoon of Saturday 10/1. On Sunday after church, we were told that a category four hurricane was set to make a direct hit on the island Monday evening. The agenda originally in place was scrubbed and we worked all day Sunday and Monday preparing for the hurricane. We were very fortunate that the hurricane spared the part of the island where we were located. We were able to proceed with the work we planned, e.g., installing lights on the security walls, telling bible stories and doing crafts with the children, cooking for the homes, taking pictures of the children for COTP’s website, handing out clothes to the nannies and backpacks with supplies to children in the village where COTP is located. Strong relationships were built and it was a happy yet sad time as we prepared to leave the following Saturday.”
